Little Diner

Bro's birthday celebration at Little Diner a couple of weeks ago!

Little Diner is situated at Bukit Timah, near Sixth Avenue MRT station. It serves hearty comfort food with generous portions and I've heard tons about the food here & how affordable it is.

Rosario’s Fried Risotto Balls (S$9.50) with a molten mozzarella centre, tomato coulis, basil pesto and parmesan cheese.

Hot crispy exterior encasing mushy rice grains almost resembling risotto. Textures were great but can be a tad bland when eaten on it's own, it was delicious when paired with the tomato coulis!

We wished there was more mozzarella inside too. A side great for sharing though :)

Version 2.0 Baked Mac & Cheese Royale (S$20.50)

I knew I had to order this when I saw it on the menu. This Mac & Cheese comes with wild mushrooms and a generous douse of truffle oil and we could smell it even before eating it.

This is definitely not for the faint-hearted as it was VERY milky and cheesy, just the way I like it hahaha. Bro didn't like it that much because it was too overwhelming, but I thought that's how a good old Mac & Cheese should be like! That said, please order it to share as it will get quite sickening if you eat it by yourself.

Little Diner Truffle Fries ($9.50 for Small, $16.50 for Large)

Hand-cut fries tossed with truffle oil, smashed garlic, black pepper and topped with grated parmesan cheese.

One of my favorite places for truffle fries now! I love how the fries are fried evenly and look rugged. They were crisp, slightly soggy and soft inside with a strong kick of truffle. The smashed garlic heightened the flavour profile and certainly satisfied our savory tastebuds.

Seafood Fra Diavlo ($23.50)

Tiger Prawns & Calamari Rings sauteed in tasty Fra Diavlo (spicy tomato sauce), tossed and served over linguine. Generous amount of seafood and the pasta was cooked al dente. It wasn't too oily and the dish came together nicely with well-balanced flavors coming from the Italian herbs and tomato sauce.

Mikey's Fish & Chips ($18.50)
Traditional Irish Beer Battered Fis served with handcut fries and tartar sauce.

HUGE portion and the fish was fresh too! Batter was a bit on the thick side but otherwise, crunchy and tasty.

Signature Tiramisu ($9)

We were impressed with their mains but unfortunately didn't quite like the tiramisu as it lacked the liqueur component. Also, we would prefer if they serve it with ice cream instead of whipped cream!

Overall a wonderful place to hang out with friends. Delicious American food (with similar portion size hahaha), affordable price tags, frequent weekday dining promotions and happy hours!
