The Lokal

Met up with my bimbos at The Lokal, one of the hottest cafe in town.

Brought to you by Sarnies, this Australian-inspired cafe is relatively new but has already garnered a huge fan base for it's wholesome and quality food, with most ingredients made from scratch.

Hipster vibes are prominent with dim settings and minimal light filtering in from the front door and strong wood accents. It is a small shop-house with a coffee counter (spot the Slayer!!) stretched across, yet it doesn't feel cramped.

Breakfast menu is served from 8-11am, and anytime after 11am onwards would be their lunch menu.

Iced Latte ($6.50)

I had high hopes for their coffee but this leaned towards the sour and acidic side. It was smooth though!

Roast Beef on Rye with caramelised onions, watercress and grained mustard creme fraiche  ($17.00)

One of their popular items, this Roast Beef sandwich was packed with thinly sliced and flavourful beef that was tender and not overly chewy. The caramelized onions added texture and sweetness to this otherwise savoury sandwich. Gotta appreciate the generous amount of watercress which provided crunch.

Artisan rye bread from Nick Vina had a great bite and nutty taste to it which i enjoyed. Some of my friends got tired from chewing though haha. Overall it was a juicy and hearty sandwich.

Roast Chicken Panini with Crispy Pancetta, Tomatoes, Avocado, Cos and Aioli. ($15)

One of the better chicken sandwiches I've had with succulent chicken chunks and copious amount of avocado mash :) Fresh tomatoes were sweet and juicy, while the chicken was well marinated and had a light roasted flavour.

I really loved the bread used as it was soft and had a great chew, making this sandwich a dream to eat. Most of us preferred this to the beef sandwich!

Plate of smoked mackerel and salmon, pickles and pita bread ($22)

Would make a trip down some time to try other items! Esp the banana bread :)
